Fertility, Being Happy And Positive Affirmations

This may sound cliche but positive thinking affects all areas of your life, including your ability to get pregnant. If you are burdened by thoughts that you will never conceive, the feelings generated are negative and unpleasant. Your body reacts by producing hormones and chemicals that are unhealthy and uncondusive towards making a baby. After all, a baby is a product of love and joy. How could you hope to conceive if you are depressed and full of negativity all the time?

Some of you might say, “But I can’t help what I think or feel!” That is not true! You can be deliberate about any areas of your life. And if you say that you want a baby, then you should at least make an effort to change your mindframe to one that is positive and full of good energy. Belief and faith are so important. We have heard of people who have been cured of cancer when doctors have given up hope. What makes you think you do not deserve a miracle too?

Start today by saying, “Thank you for your concern but I no longer need you,” to those thoughts that are detrimental to your goal of getting pregnant. Start dreaming about the baby you are going to have. Tell yourself that you are capable and ready in every way for that bundle of joy. And start thanking god or the universe for the gift that is about to be bestowed upon you. Notice how wonderful that feels!

Here are some books that will help you in more ways than one. Most of them (with the exception of the last one, Pregnancy Miracle) are available on Amazon.com. Read the descriptions and reviews and choose one or two that appeal to you:

      1. Law of Attraction by Michael J. Losier

      2. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

      3. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

      4. Happy For No Reason by Marci Shimoff

      5. Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch (This is not a religious book!)

      6. A Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman and William Thetford

      7. Perhaps the most important book for those of you who wish to get pregnant is Pregnancy Miracle by Lisa Olson. Conventional Infertility Treatments & Complications

Infertility has become a major problem among many people. Infertility clinics are now becoming an important industry. Here are some of the infertility treatments offered:

      1.     Fertility Drugs

Fertility drugs are used to treat female infertility by addressing ovulation disorders. These medications work like natural hormones to promote ovulation. Here are some common medicines used to treat infertility in women:

      • Clomiphene citrate (Clomid): This oral medicine brings about ovulation by causing the pituitary gland to produce more FSH and LH. It is recommended for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

      • Human menopausal gonadotropin or hMG (Repronex, Pergonal), Follicle-stimulating hormone or FSH (Gonal-F, Follistim): These medicines are similar in effect to Clomid except that they stimulate the ovaries directly and not the pituitary gland. They are also injected and not taken orally.

      • Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn-RH) analog: Women who don’t ovulate regularly or who ovulate prematurely are usually given this medicine. These medicines are usually injected.

      • Metformin (Glucophage): Doctors use this medicine for women who have insulin resistance or PCOS. This medicine is taken orally to trigger ovulation.

      • Bromocriptine (Parlodel): Women with irregular ovulation cycles caused by high levels of prolactin, the hormone that stimulates milk production in new mothers, are given this medicine.

      • Follicle-stimulating hormone (Bravelle). FSH stimulates the maturation of egg follicles in the ovaries.

      • Aromatase inhibitors. These are usually used on cancer patients and sometimes prescribed for women with ovulation problems.

      2.     Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is also often called artificial insemination. Using this method, the woman is injected with sperm. IUI is effective in cases of mild male infertility, women with insufficient cervical mucus and couples with unexplained infertility.

      3.     Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)

Many babies have been born as a result of ART. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) works by extracting eggs from a woman’s body and then mixing them with sperm to make embryos. The embryos are then put back in the woman’s body. The most common method of ART is In vitro fertilization (IVF). It is often used when a woman’s Fallopian tubes are blocked or when a man produces too few sperm.

      Complications of infertility treatments:

      • Unfortunately, fertility drugs increase a woman’s chance of having multiples. This can cause problems during pregnancy and increase the risk of having premature babies.

      • Another complication includes OHSS (Ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome). This can be very painful and may need to be treated.

      • Bleeding in the mother or birth defects in the baby

      Natural Treatment For Infertility

Because of the complications involved, natural remedies are viewed as superior as they are safer and also more effective. Most importantly, natural ways help improve general health of the parents and as a result, babies conceived through natural methods are healthier. It is possible to conceive naturally without drugs, over the counters and without risky surgery or side effects.

    • Improve Fertility With Acupuncture

Getting Pregnant, Infertility, pregnancymiraclesecretsystem, Traditional Chinese Medicine No Comments »

Today, an alarming number of women around the world are experiencing unexplained infertility. This is a staggering number, especially considering there is a very high chance that either you or someone you know has infertility problems. We believe that pregnancy is a natural process and expect to automatically conceive when we are ready. Women over 40 with no fertility problems may take up to 18-20 menstrual cycles to get pregnant. Coupled with fertility problems, this problem becomes more serious. And when time is not on your side, this prolonged period of trying to conceive can become very frustrating and stressful. Inevitably, this stress causes it even more difficult for us to conceive. Fortunately, by having the right information and treatment, so-called infertile women can conceive quickly and easily.

      What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a practice in which very fine needles are inserted into specific points of the body and then manipulated. Acupuncture is a traditional ancient Chinese method that has been used for the last 2000 years in Chinese culture for treatment of infertility issues. According to acupuncture practitioners, Life Energy or Qi (in the Chinese language) flows through our bodies. The acupuncture points, which have been confirmed by electromagnetic research, are located on ‘Meridiens’ where the Qi flows. It is believed that illness is caused by blockage along these meridians as the Qi cannot flow properly. Acupuncture corrects the Qi flow in the body and restores balance to the body. Acupuncture integrates different systems of the body and promotes self-healing.Acupuncture looks at a person as a whole and treats the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.

      Can Acupuncture Restore Fertility?

Acupuncture helps to reduce stress by reducing the release of stress hormones such as Cortisol into the body. After a few sessions of acupuncture, one can expect improved hormonal balance, strengthened immune system, improved blood flow to the uterus, thicker endometrial lining and reduced stress levels.

Some doctors recommend acupuncture to be used in conjuction with conventional IVF treatments. The treatments themselves involve the women getting tiny needles applied 20 minutes prior to getting in vitro fertilization treatments. Twenty minutes after the in vitro treatments, the needles were applied again. Men can also undergo acupuncture treatment as it will increase their sperm count. The cost of getting pregnant with acupuncture is approximately $1,000 on top of all in vitro fertilization treatment costs.

    • 7 Relaxation Techniques For Fertility

Exercise, Getting Pregnant, Infertility, pregnancymiraclesecretsystem, Relaxation No Comments »

Stress affects our bodies in more ways than one. When our health is affected, so is our ability to conceive. Unfortunately, the months and years of waiting, trying and failing to get pregnant can be very stressful. If you are also spending a lot of time, money and effort going to fertility clinics and getting infertility treatment, the stress level increases. Fortunately, there are many ways for you to start relaxing again. Here are some of the things you could do:

      1. Exercise

Exercise releases hormones in your body that help you to feel happy and relaxed. If you are obese, exercise will help you to lose some weight, which in turn will improve your fertility. You may want to consider some traditional forms of exercise. Yoga and taichi/qigong are especially good for relaxation.

      2. Meditate

Meditation clears the mind and allows us to be at one with ourselves. Starting with 15 minutes a day, sit in a quiet corner and just observe your breath. You can also focus on a picture or a flame. Let your thoughts float gently away and your body slowly relax. If you can’t sit for 15 minutes, do other forms of ‘meditation’ that allow your mind to relax – such as deep breathing, painting, knitting, baking or walking.

      3. Hang out with family and friends or join a support group

There’s nothing better than being with people you love. But be careful not to be around toxic people, people who stress you out. Joining a support group allows you to talk to people in the same boat and sometimes, knowing how strong others are will also give you strength and inspiration.

      4. Get a pet

Caring and being with a pet is extremely therapeutic. It has been known to help people with depression, disabled children, hospitalized patients, the old and lonely. Moreover, even though it is not the same, caring for a pet will prepare you in caring for a child.

      5. Massage

Massage is one of the fastest ways to relax. Find a good masseur or better still, massage each other. Massage is not only relaxing, it can only be erotic, which is a bonus when one is trying to conceive.

      6. Time Out

Lots of couples come back from holiday and find that they are pregnant. This is because you are relaxed while on vacation. You are also spending quality time with each other. Choose a holiday that suits you. Some people find lying on a beach relaxing while others like trekking in the fresh mountain air. Still others prefer a shopping holiday or one that includes an activity they enjoy. The choice is yours.

      7. Laugh

Watch funny movies, go to comedies, read books that make you laugh. I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying that laughter is the best medicine. It keeps you in a good mood, it enforces a positive attitude and it definitely relaxes you.

In order to conceive, you must learn to relax. Put aside some of the less important things that you have to do and make time for yourself and each other. Stay away from people or things that upset you. And most important of all, believe in yourself.

Apart from relaxation, look into other things that will help you increase your chances of getting pregnant, including nutrition, Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

    • Signs Of Infertility

      Infertility No Comments »

The most obvious sign of a woman being infertile is, of course, her inability to conceive. This is usually accompanied an irregular pattern of menstruation, which may also indicate other health problems.

If a woman is over or underweight, her fertility will be affected. Obesity or malnutrition can affect a woman’s hormonal balance. Consumption of alcohol and caffeine can also reduce fertility, as can smoking and the use of certain drugs. Thus, a woman trying to conceive should be very careful about what goes into her body. She should also be careful about her environment. Exposure to certain chemicals can be dangerous to both her health and her fertility.

Some signs of infertility are less obvious. For example, if the ovary of a woman is twisted, conceiving a baby becomes difficult. That is because the male sperm will have difficulty swimming into her ovary. Cysts in the ovary can also prevent a woman from getting pregnant. Most of these problems can be corrected however.

Men can also be infertile although this is harder to tell. His outer appearance has nothing to do with his ability to impregnate a woman. However, in general, the level of fertility goes down as a man becomes older and/or more obese. Fertility can also be affected by  stress, using the wrong kinds of lubricant/condoms, relationship problems, exposure to heat/radiation, substance abuse, smoking, malnutrition, wearing tight underwear, cycling and obesity. Anatomical problems such as undescended testicles can also cause infertility in men.

Fortunately, most of these fertility problems can be cured if holistic methods of treatment are used. Holistic methods are safe and promote general health. They have a higher success rate and are usually more affordable too. They include better nutrition, moderate exercise, lifestyle changes, and traditional medicine and treatment.

    • Getting Pregnant – Ovulation, Sperm Count And Frequency Of Sex

      Getting Pregnant 3 Comments »

If you are trying to get pregnant, it is also important to pay attention to these factors:

      • The ideal time to get pregnant is during the ovulation period. This is because, during ovulation, a woman’s egg is released from the ovary and the ready for fertilization. The ovulation can be estimated by calculating 16 days back from the next expected period. From this estimated day, there are 4-5 days of fertile period when conception is most likely to occur if intercourse takes place.
          • Ideally, sperm should be in the body of the woman immediately before ovulating. This is so that the sperm is already waiting when the egg is released from the woman’s ovary. However, if the male has a low sperm count, he should abstain for about 3 days before sexual intercourse. Low sperm count can be caused by age, stress, using the wrong kinds of lubricant/condoms, relationship problems, exposure to heat/radiation, substance abuse, smoking, malnutrition, wearing tight underwear, cycling and obesity. Most of these causes can be easily eliminated.
            • Some people say that if intercourse is held everyday, there will be less sperm in the man’s ejaculation, thereby reducing the chances of the woman getting pregnant. Others think that if the man abstains for too long, the sperm becomes old and ineffective. Therefore, try not to abstain for more than 7 days in a row. It is best to have sex every 2 days during the ovulation period. It is important to relax and enjoy your love-making too. Don’t forget romance!

If you do not succeed in getting pregnant within 12 months, it is recommended that you seek help, preferbably one that uses holistic approach. Such an approach helps you to understand your body and why you haven’t conceived. Holistic approaches are desirable because they present little or no side effects, they are more effective and they are usually also cheaper than conventional fertility treatments.

How Yoga Can Help You Get Pregnant

Exercise is very important for good health and especially important when we are trying to get pregnant. Provided that exercises are moderate and not overly strenuous, we can experience many health benefits. Exercise also makes you feel good because of the release of endorphins. If we are overweight, it is important to exercise to lose weight because obesity can cause insulin resistance which in turn inhibits ovulation. Our chances of conceiving a baby can be increased by exercising regularly 3-4 times a week. However, it is important not to overdo it because this can reduce fertility rather than increase it.

Yoga is a perfect form of exercise for women who are trying to conceive for several reasons:

      1. It is a gentle form of exercise. It has the effect of refreshing a person rather than tiring a person out.

      2. Pranayama, the art of breathing control, which is part of the yoga practice, is deeply relaxing. After even just one session of yoga, one can feel calm and relaxed by the loosening up of tight muscles.

      3. Yoga promotes self-detoxification which in turn brings good health. It triggers your body’s own healing capacity.

      4. Yoga increases blood supply to the reproductive organs. It strengthens the muscles in the reproductive area.

      5. Yoga is especially beneficial for conception if done together with your partner to promote a peaceful and deep relationship.

      6. Yoga can correct hormonal imbalance.

      7. It promotes mental and emotional health. The quiet time to yourself will help you to control your negative thoughts and find deep inner peace. Yoga can even be a spiritual experience for some.

      8. Some yoga positions have been recommended for women who are trying to get pregnant. These positions should be done after intercourse to help keep sperm inside the vaginal canal for a longer time. The “Legs Up On The Wall” position is very useful for this purpose. Basically, as the name of the poses suggests, lie down near the wall and put your legs up against it. Support your buttocks with some pillows if needed.

Although it is not impossible to learn yoga from books or videos, it is much more effective to join a class. This is because your instructor can correct your poses if necessary and this is especially beneficial for beginners.

Chinese herbs have been used to aid fertility in both women and men in China for hundreds of years and are becoming more and more popular in the west. Normally, a Chinese herbal practitioner would observe the patient and prescribe a combination of herbs depending on the severity of the patient’s condition. This particular type of treatment takes into consideration all aspects of a person and not only the symptoms of infertility so the types of herbs prescribed for different individuals may differ. Chinese herbs are usually obtained from parts of plants and sometimes animals. The advantage of using Chinese herbal treatment is that it presents higher success rates than typical fertility treatments. It is also substantially more affordable. Morever, this treatment method presents little side effects, if any at all; in addition, it will rejuvenate the patient in more ways than one.

These Chinese herbs should be ingested regularly, and higher dosages usually bring faster results. Results can usually be seen within a year, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition and the dosage taken. Chinese herbs are very safe to consume and Chinese herbs can be combined with western treatment to increase the chances of success and minimise the side effects. The ingestion of Chinese herbs can be discontinued as soon as one is pregnant but can also be continued to protect the mother-to-be against miscarriage. A very common herb used by Chinese women is Dong Quai.

For faster results, you may consider combining the use of Chinese medicine with acupuncture, along with other health promoting measures such as improved nutrition, moderate exercise (yoga and taichi are especially recommended), relaxation techniques (mediation is very useful) and so on. The better your health, the higher chance there is for you to conceive. Additionally, learning to determine the fertile period during your ovulation cyle will help you to know the best time to have intercourse.
